Modeling

After taking one of my sketches i thought i should test the sketches and see hoe useful they are when designing the house in 3D i wanted to test this so i choose to try and design this design as a 3D Model

I am unsure on the amount of work that i should put in for the year. As the concept of gromak thor is quite large scale i wanted to see how long one asset would take to get near enough done. This took me a few days to complete. To the standard of work i want to achieve. This is what i want to show tutors. showing them the quality of work at minimum as a reference the rest of the city.
However there are parts of this project that are not complete. I have changed the wood to concrete around the middle and top of the house, i have also changed the style of door handle on the front and top door. The renders that you see at the moment are the asset before the changes.

I have hit a snag when importing assets into UDK editor. Various parts of the scene materials are not displaying correctly.
The parts in particular are

  •  the round windows around the house
  • The three braces on the front door
  • One of the concrete/wood braces
  • The back metal frame of the roof
  • one of four of the metal frames around the roof.

This could be for a number of reasons. Wrong file types, poorly named textures, copys of objects.
Regardless i am going to keep working on it and hope to have this scene ready to show off by the first week of uni.

In making this project first it has made me consider the UDK aspect more and breaking down parts of the house/future assets and importing them separately would be a safer option both for textures and time efficiency. Breaking down this asset. I could use the windows, door and sign for future models.
